KIKI
SANCHEZ
Luis
Enrique “Kiki” Sanchez, a native of Lima, Peru,
was born into the musical embrace of the famous Maximo Sanchez.
His formal education began in Peru, with Coco Macedo and Edermi
Chavez, and molded himself into a well-rounded musician by
playing in local bands such as, La Peru Salsa All-Stars, Orquesta
Majestic, and La Unica. In search of a broader musical journey,
he left Peru to increase the depth of his knowledge and experience.
His crisp style has left a lasting impression on collective
works by playing with luminaries like Israel Lopez, Cachao,
James Moody, and on the 2005 Grammy nominated “Blown
Away” by Arturo Sandoval and Frankie Marcos. The list
of albums, tours and performances he’s accompanied on
is long and distinguished. His zeal and passion for music
is instantly recognized upon you meeting him. His first solo
album, “Dreams”, is due for release on Orun Music.
This masterful collection of Latin Jazz compositions is reminiscent
of his father Maximo Sanchez. It is the sum of all his training,
but also of his imagination, desires, and aspirations for
music. Upon you hearing it, you will immediately get a sense
of what he’s always been striving to convey. “The
future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their
dreams” – Kiki Sanchez
